Summary
This class is a standing contemporary dance technique, in which the student comes into contact with a variety of movements. Starting in a simple form and building up to more complex phrases of movements.
The class focusses on developing strengths, flexibility, coordination, endurance and resilience.
The student is introduced to different musical rhythms and dynamics, learns to work with physical and spacial awareness and comes in contact with the different qualities (effort) in movement.
In this class we will also work with the principles of the Alexander Technique. The student will observe their inefficient habitual patterns in their coordination and posture and will learn how to change them.
The connection of body and mind working together, is important and the student will learn about the principles of the Alexander technique and apply these in their dancing.
