Description
This course aims to support the development of the students’ artistic vision as dance artist as well as the communication hereof. Taking the students solos as starting point, it invites students to reflect on a meta-level on artistic decisions in and beyond the solo. It then stimulates students to pitch an imaginary/new solo project in a context that fits the dance practice. Finally, the course stimulates students to reflect on where and how they would like to work and why and to write a motivation letter to a certain person or organisation that fits their personal vision.
The format of the course is based groups discussions, and peer feedback.
Learning Goals
At the end of the course the student is able to:
-Gain a better understanding of own artistic vision
-Better position themselves vis-a-vis the workfield as dance artists
-Develop communication skills for oral pitching
-Develop communication skills for written form (motivation letter)
-Respect different visions on dance
Assignment:
Portfolio consisting of three assignments:
-artist statement and motivation letter
-an oral pitch in class.
