After moving to Amsterdam, all students are required to register at the Amsterdam city council. An appointment to register has to be made within 5 days of arrival in the Netherlands.
After registration, the student will be issued with a BSN-number (citizen service number).
The BSN is needed to open a bank account or Dutch health insurance.
