During their study, students are motivated to choreograph their own dance performances. This "own work" stems from the music / improvisation / composition lessons they follow. Music and rhythm classes also expect students to create own work. For these assignments modern twentieth century music and self-assembled soundscapes serve as departure point. The student first consults with the teacher about his/her idea before working it out. He/she can ask the composition, music and / or drama teacher for help. For their assignments, students are expected to undertake research (consult literature, view videos, listen to music, etc.). Third-year students are responsible for their own “Third Year Project”, in which they take charge of setting up an entire production, including the choice of dance repertoire, its rehearsal and performance, production affairs, publicity and looking for an appropriate venue.  A budget for realizing the project has been made available.
